The MKH 70 is a lightweight long gun microphone. Its excellent directivity is particularly suited to applications undertaken in difficult conditions, such as high background noise and distance microphone positioning. Its frequency-independent directivity prevents sound colouration from off-axis sound sources.

Let me just set an example real quick. The only place I could hide to get my audio on a film set was under a table curled up into a ball. Without the MKH70, I would've had to depend on my lavs only. I ended up getting better audio from the MKH70 than my lavs, while curled up in a ball under a table. This microphone is amazing.
